FAQ

  • A question that comes up a lot is, “when is the best time to book maternity photos?” This is an important one to get right – most people aren’t up for booking two maternity sessions in the same pregnancy. But the answer isn’t so clear cut. It’s different for everyone. So, how do you know? As a rule of thumb, anytime between 28 and 34 weeks is a good time. But babies will arrive when they want to, so if you’re having twins or you suspect your little one might be making their big entrance into the world early, it’s safer to do it sooner rather than later. If you’ve been pregnant before, chances are you’ll show earlier, so you could book earlier. The earlier you book, the more options we’ll have with posing and location.
  • When taking maternity + newborn photographs I feel that it's really important for everyone to feel comfortable. Dress comfortably and in your usual style. I will send out an email with styling tips after you are booked. I also have a selection of maternity dresses available for use.

newborn faq

  • In-home newborn sessions are my fav! We spend a couple of hours at your home, basically soaking up all those new baby smells... while I capture all the memories! Mom with baby, dad with baby, sibling(s) with baby, the whole fam, and of course lots of shots of just the baby. I bring one neutral wrap and blanket but no props.
  • if you prefer not to do this in your home, no worries! I also offer sessions in my studio doing the same thing. my 1000 sq ft studio loft is furnished with beds, sofas, chairs, mirrors and that loft vibe that's perfect for me to capture all of the memories!
  • I generally recommend that parents schedule newborn photos when the baby is between one and two weeks old. However, because of my un-posed, lifestyle approach to photography, I can photograph a “newborn” session well beyond that two-week mark. If your wish is to get tons of sleepy baby shots, the one-to-two-week mark is generally better. However, if you’re happy to receive a lot of images of a wide-eyed baby, you can certainly schedule a shoot more around the 2–3-month mark. I do recommend we get the photos done before/after baby acne occurs.
  • Leave your slippers on. Forget about the laundry. Sink into your favorite chair with your little one. Soak up that addicting new baby smell and how their long lashes flutter as they fall asleep. You only get to do this stage once, but your photos can help you relive it.
  • We’ll let your baby lead the session (no props, unless you want to incorporate a special item like a baby blanket or stuffed animal). If your baby has siblings, we will absolutely include them — read a book together, share cuddles on the couch, or play as a family.
